Australia Welcomes Ravenhall: A Green Game-Changer in Melbourne’s Distribution Landscape

A few weeks back, the city of Melbourne turned a new leaf in its sustainable journey. The much-awaited unveiling of our 20,000-square-meter distribution center in Ravenhall was a testament to the power of green technology and ingenuity.

Situated on the outskirts of Melbourne, the revolutionary Ravenhall center not only aims to redefine distribution logistics but also places sustainability and worker safety at the heart of its operations.

"Ravenhall is more than just a warehouse; it is a culmination of years of dedication and determination to challenge traditional norms. We didn't just set out to build a shed," says Kurt Hegvold, the Managing Director. "Efficiency was a goal, yes, but not the only one."

As guests wandered through the sprawling facility post-inauguration, they had the chance to experience these unique innovations from the people who brought them to life.

Ravenhall stands as a testament to Electrolux Group's commitment to the Zero Waste initiative, boasting advanced recycling facilities. The entire forklift fleet operates on clean energy, thanks to the 200-kW solar array installation, a first in the industry. A sophisticated forklift detection system promotes pedestrian safety, while improved dock utilization assures efficient stock movements, keeping customers and consumers at the heart of operations.

Now fully operational, the Ravenhall facility serves as the launchpad for Electrolux's ambitious plans to refurbish and enhance its operational facilities across Australia and New Zealand (ANZ).

Hegvold encapsulates this vision in a single, powerful sentiment: “Our aim is to be an organization people aspire to work for and collaborate with. We want to be a neighbor the local community takes pride in.”

Ravenhall's Grand Opening Welcomes Global Leadership

The opening ceremony of Ravenhall coincided with a much-anticipated visit by Adam Cich and the BA APAC & MEA Leadership team, marking their first trip Down Under in over two years.

Adam Cich, Head of BA APAC &  MEA commended the project, stating, “Australia and New Zealand are a crucial part of our BA plans to grow sales to SEK 40 billion by 2027. The opening of Ravenhall ticks all the boxes for us from a sustainability and consumer-centricity point of view. Not only is it a shining example of how we put sustainability first in our operations sites, but our customers will also benefit from better service. Well done to the team for pulling this together during extremely challenging times."

While in the country, the team used the opportunity to hold a sales area review for the ANZ region, host a town hall for local employees, and strengthen ties with retail partners in Melbourne and Sydney. Their visit underscores the importance of the Ravenhall center and the pioneering role it is set to play in the regional distribution landscape.
