Electrolux Ideas Lab: 50 game-changing ideas picked to inspire food for thought

In launching the new global competition Ideas Lab in August 2016, Electrolux was counting on the creativity of consumers to cook up ideas to inspire healthier eating and a brighter future for the planet.

They delivered, drawing on trends like connectivity, 3D printing and gamification to find answers to the challenge question: “How can we inspire people around the world to enjoy tastier, healthier and more sustainable home cooking in the future?”

After reviewing submissions in the form of 30-second video clips, 50 ideas from 27 countries have been selected for a round of crowd voting to pick the Top 10 ideas. See the Top 50 videos: www.electroluxideaslab.com

Among the best ideas, connectivity has been taken to a new level and is a stand-out theme for consumers in their homes of the future. Many ideas explore the potential of apps as a channel to encourage healthier food habits as well as to connect foodies around the world to tackle food waste and promote food sharing.

”The global response from consumers to Ideas Lab has been very strong. It’s great to see truly innovative thinking about the future of home cooking – the core business for Electrolux and an area that we are deeply invested in for the future,” says Mona Abbasi, Vice President, 360 Consumer Experience and Brand, “We have received a great number of submissions from across the globe and interestingly, we can recognize similar ideas from markets across the world. That sends us a clear message about common interests and needs among likeminded consumers in various parts of the world.”

Developments in 3D printing have been brought to the fore while gamification adds a playful element to some of the Top 50 ideas. They also include high-tech twists to products of today and tomorrow and innovative ways for communities to network and make a difference.
