Electrolux in Russia recently donated appliances to the newly opened “Family Room” at the Onkogematologic Centre of the Regional Children’s hospital in Rostov-on-Don, Russia.
The Family Room concept is part of the international Ronald McDonald House. A Family Room is a homey environment, located on or near hospital premises, which provides a place of refuge to families whose child is being treated for illness or injury.
The Family Room allows parents to better communicate with their child’s medical team and improves adherence to complicated treatment plans, and can include services such as a kitchen area, showers facilities, laundry, internet access and more. The new Family Room in Rostov-on-Don consists of a kitchen, dining room, playroom, 2 bedrooms, bathroom and a powder room.
This recently opened facility is the ninth opened in Russia. Electrolux has been actively offering its sponsorship help since the 2004, when the project was first introduced in Russia. The goal is to open a Family Room in all Federal Russian Children’s hospitals where treatment lasts more than two months.
Plans are under way to open three more “Family Rooms” in the near future in the Russian cities of Yaroslavl, Ufa and Saratov. Similar “Family room” projects exist in 15 countries around the world: USA, Great Britain, Holland, Sweden and other.
