Electrolux brings 90 years of Culinary Expertise to the Film Festival de Cannes

The Electrolux Agora Pavilion hosted the official 2012 Film Festival de Cannes Opening Gala Dinner, the Jury Deliberation Lunches and several other culinary gatherings during the festival. The Jury Deliberation Lunch is considered “the most important annual dinner in France” by Electrolux partner chef and two Michelin starred holder, Bruno Oger.

“The gala dinner experience at Film Festival de Cannes demands chefs that can achieve the highest possible standards,” says Frederique Pirenne, Electrolux PR Director Europe. “The partner chefs that Electrolux are bringing to Cannes have won their titles and risen to global prominence by relying on the same appliances as those installed within the Electrolux Agora Pavillion, ensuring they have the support in place with which to confidently perform outside their trusted habitat.”

Award Winning Chefs at Film Festival de Cannes 2012

As the largest and preferred supplier of Michelin restaurants in Europe, Electrolux brought together three award winning chefs they support on a daily basis within their professional kitchens, including two Michelin Star winner Bruno Oger (France); Bocuse d’Or Gold winner Rasmus Kofoed (Denmark); and Bocuse d’Or Silver winner Tommy Myllymäki (Sweden), who work alongside respected sommelier Jens Dolk (Sweden).  The chefs cooked for guests including Ewan McGregor, Diane Kruger and Jean Paul Gaultier – all of whom are on this year’s Festival Jury.

The Electrolux Agora Pavilion was the largest temporary structure along the Croisette and was built over 2 weeks by 51 people, equating to almost 200 man hours.  The Agora was held down by 21 three ton blocks of concrete, and dug 7-8 metres into the ground.

The Award Winning Chefs to Electrolux Agora Pavilion:

Rasmus Kofoed (winner of Bocuse d’Or and 1 Michelin Star) is Head Chef and co-owner of Geranium in Copenhagen. Rasmus’s cooking style reflects his Scandinavian roots and he looks to the natural world to involve all the senses in the appreciation of food. Light, lucid and dynamic, Rasmus’s vision has led to his restaurant featuring in the Top 50 Best Restaurants in the World 2012 as well as earning him the prestigious Gold Medal in the Bocuse d’Or, the culinary equivalent of the Olympic Games.

Bruno Oger (2 Michelin Stars and winner of Best French Chef of the Year) is an internationally-renowned  French chef, and his food offers taste, passion, pleasure and imagination, inspired by Mediterranean flavours and local produce. Entrusted with the kitchens of the Majestic Hotel at the age of 29, Bruno was awarded his first 2 Michelin stars.  When he opened his first restaurant, the prestigious Villa Archange, he achieved the rare feat of earning two Michelin stars directly. Villa Archangel is now a stalwart of elegant Cannes dining.

Tommy Myllymäki became Swedish Chef of the Year in 2007 and won the prestigious Bocuse Silver in 2011. As head chef and/or part owner of several establishments around his native Katrineholm, Sweden, Tommy focuses on using different local produce from across the Swedish nation to surprise his guests with unexplored combinations of authentic and pure Scandinavian flavors.
