North America operations hosted nine workshops across its footprint
Charlotte, NC, October 16, 2025 – To honor World Food Day on October 16, Electrolux Group hosted 300 children across five North American sites for Food Heroes workshops. The events, designed for children ages 7 to 11, teach the importance of eating sustainably.
As part of its global World Food Day celebration, the company seeks to educate 10,000 children across the globe on the Food Heroes curriculum, inspiring young minds to make more sustainable food choices. The five North America Electrolux Group locations that hosted events were:
- Anderson, South Carolina
- Charlotte, North Carolina (North America headquarters)
- Juárez, Mexico
- Kinston, North Carolina
- Springfield, Tennessee
“We know the food we eat is a significant factor in our health, but there is a bigger picture to think about when we make our food choices” said Ricardo Cons, president and CEO of Electrolux Group for business area North America. “With our Food Heroes workshops, not only do we aim to teach children healthy eating habits, but we also hope the curriculum inspires them to make choices that use less resources and minimize food waste. By embracing the role of a ‘Food Hero,’ the children can contribute to a healthier planet.”
Produced by the Electrolux Food Foundation with partners Worldchefs and the global youth leadership network, AIESEC, the Food Heroes workshop takes children through a curriculum that connects their food choices to not only their health, but how food impacts the planet. Having recently reached its 2030 goal of educating 300,000 children, the Food Foundation is now aiming even higher – with a bold new target to educate 1 million people by 2030. The Food Heroes Toolkit is available for free download here.
Electrolux Group employee volunteers across the globe led the one-hour Food Heroes workshops. For the North America team, the World Food Day events are part of its annual Electrolux Group Cares Week, a week when employees are encouraged to put the company’s purpose of “shaping living for the better” into action by giving back to their community and engaging in volunteer opportunities.
