Definition of references used in RML

AGEC

The French anti-waste law for a circular economy, “Loi no 2020-105 du 10 février 2020 relative à la lutte contre le gaspillage et à l’économie circulaire”. Article 112 of Law no 2020-105 provides a gradual ban on the use of mineral oils (i.e., MOSH and MOAH) in packaging and printed matter distributed to the public.

Decree no. 2022-748 of 29 April 2022: Decree on consumer information about the environmental qualities and characteristics of waste generating products.

Batteries Regulation

Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 on batteries and waste batteries.

Bisphenol regulation EU

Commission Regulation (EU) 2024/3190 of 19 December 2024 on the use of bisphenol A (BPA) and other bisphenols and bisphenol derivatives with harmonised classification for specific hazardous properties in certain materials and articles intended to come into contact with food, amending Regulation (EU) No 10/2011 and repealing Regulation (EU) 2018/213.

BPR

Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR, Regulation (EU) 528/2012), also including a substance/application that is classified as a Biocidal Product targeted in a country outside EU by, but not limited to, a regulation like BPR (EU), such as GB BPR, South Korea Biocidal Product Registration (BPR), Pesticide Registration in China, Disinfectant Registration in China, FIFRA (US) Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act, PMRA (Canada) Pest Management Regulatory Agency.

All substances, preparations (including polymers) in Electrolux Group products.

CLP CLH

Harmonized classification and labelling according to the Classification, Labelling and Packaging (CLP) Regulation ((EC) No 1272/2008), based on the United Nations’ Globally Harmonized System (GHS) with the purpose to ensure a high level of protection of health and the environment, as well as the free movement of substances, mixtures and articles. The CLP Regulation amended the Dangerous Substances Directive (67/548/EEC (DSD)), the Dangerous Preparations Directive (1999/45/EC (DPD)) and Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 (REACH), and since 1st June 2015, is the only legislation in force in the EU for the classification and labelling of substances and mixtures.

Dodd-Frank

The U.S. Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, introducing on session 1502 due diligence and disclosure requirements linked to the use of certain “conflict minerals” originating in the Democratic Republic of Congo or adjoining countries.

F-gas regulation

Regulation (EU) 2024/573 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 7 February 2024 on fluorinated greenhouse gases, amending Directive (EU) 2019/1937 and repealing Regulation (EU) No 517/2014.

GS

German GS mark ”Geprüfte Sicherheit” certification requirements.

Homogeneous material

A material of uniform composition throughout or a material, consisting of a combination of materials, which cannot be disjointed or separated into different materials by mechanical actions such as unscrewing, cutting, crushing, grinding and abrasive processes.

ODS regulation

Regulation (EU) 2000/37 on substances that deplete the ozone layer, which is the EU adoption of the Montreal Protocol.

Packaging

Packaging Directive (EU) 94/62/EC, which aims to harmonize national measures concerning the management of packaging and packaging waste.

POP regulation

Regulation (EU) 2019/1021 on persistent organic pollutants and its amendments, which repeals Regulation (EU) 850/2004 and is the EU implementation of the Stockholm Convention.

Prop 65

Proposition 65, officially known as the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, was enacted as a ballot initiative in November 1986 (www.oehha.ca.gov/proposition-65).

REACH

Regulation (EC) 1907/2006 concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals, including Annex XVII that contains the restrictions on the manufacture, placing on the market and use of certain dangerous substances, preparations and articles – former directive 76/769 (EEC).

Also including REACH like requirements in countries outside the EU such as: Taiwan REACH, Korea REACH (KREACH), China Chemical Substance Notification (China REACH – MEE Order No.12), revision to the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) of 1976…

  • Substance means a chemical element and its compounds in the natural state or the result of a manufacturing process.
  • Preparation means a mixture of minimum 2 substances.
  • Article means an object which during production is given a special shape, surface or design which determines its function to a greater degree than does its chemical composition’. In a general sense, an article can usually be considered to be a component or a finished product.

Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POP)

The global treaty to protect human health and the environment from chemicals that remain intact in the environment for long periods, become widely distributed geographically, accumulate in the fatty tissue of humans and wildlife, and have harmful impacts on human health or on the environment.

Swedish chemical tax

Tax on chemicals in certain electronic products, Swedish Law (2016:1067) and Amendment SFS 2022:1774.

The Minamata Convention

The global treaty to protect human health and the environment from the adverse effects of mercury.
