56,000 meals for the hungry – in one week

The annual Electrolux Cares Week in North America is a shining example of employee-driven initiatives, funded by the Electrolux Food Foundation, that provide community support.

This traditional week of giving, which for 2019 coincided with the company’s 100-year celebrations in August, enables our people to get involved in supporting their local community through hunger and homelessness projects.

Electrolux employees prepared 56,000 meals for the hungry, filled backpacks with food for hungry kids and built houses for the homeless.

“We are excited to give back in the communities where we live and work, providing meals to the hungry and shelter to the homeless,” says Eloise Hale, Head of Communications, Electrolux North America.

“Not only does it address immediate need, but it also creates stability and economic opportunity for struggling people and families.”

Over in Australia, a long-term partnership with OzHarvest, the country’s leading food rescue organization, provides meals to those in need using food that would otherwise have been wasted.

In 2018, 355,000 meals were donated to vulnerable people with the help of employee volunteers and their participation in the Cooking for a Cause program and high-profile CookOff fund-raisers.

Electrolux Cares Week and our partnership with OzHarvest are initiatives that demonstrate how we support communities through funding and the involvement of our employees in local projects.
