Climate Week NYC: We drive sustainable change from the heart of the home

Electrolux Group joined global leaders and experts at Climate Week NYC in September, where we showed how smarter home living — from using steam refresh cycles to cooking more nutritious meals and avoiding food waste — can help millions of people to reduce their climate footprint every day.

World-leading global climate event Climate Week NYC, organized by the Climate Group, was held in New York from September 21 to 28. Attended by top-level CEOs and government figures from across the globe including Ursula von der Leyen, the European Commission President, and high-profile activists like Mark Ruffalo and Jane Fonda, over 100,000 people participated in 1,000 events across the city.

The purpose of Climate Week NYC was to connect global leaders and experts to discuss, showcase, and advance solutions to the climate crisis. The week-long event highlighted practical, grounded solutions, focusing on topics like climate finance, technology, carbon markets, and corporate sustainability initiatives.

Representing Electrolux Group was Tara Moonan, Sustainability Director for North America, (pictured above with Nick Nuttall, at the We Don’t Have Time climate hub), who joined forces with leaders from IKEA, Procter & Gamble, the 50L Home Coalition and the We Mean Business Coalition.

Through our joint pilot program with the 50L Home Coalition, we’re showing how collaboration can cut household water use by 21% and energy in the home by 18%. Tara spotlighted how smarter home living — from cold-water washing and steam refresh cycles to cooking more nutritious meals and avoiding food waste — can help millions reduce their climate footprint every day.

Every year, Electrolux Group sells millions of appliances that serve households for decades. Each one makes a difference, and over time, those differences add up, shaping hundreds of millions of homes that are smarter, more efficient, and better for the planet.
