New Sustainability Award for Electrolux suppliers attracts high number of entries

With our UN pledge to cut emissions to zero throughout our value chain by 2050, Electrolux is serious about sustainability. And so are our suppliers, who submitted over 60 nominations for our new Sustainability Award.

Our goal is to have the same sustainability ambitions in our supply chain as we do in our own company and we have been working hard with our suppliers to reduce their own environmental footprint.  Earlier this year, we secured the commitment from our top 200 suppliers to disclose emissions and set targets through the CDP Supply Chain Programa non-profit international organization that specializes in environmental reporting and ratings of which Electrolux is a member.

Now we have added a new Sustainability Award category to this year’s Supplier Awards. Open for self-nominations, suppliers can demonstrate their passion and commitment towards our sustainability targets expressed in our framework ‘For the Better 2030’.

Submissions are focused around three main areas:

Recycled materials

The use of recycled materials, including plastic.

More efficient appliances

The development of more efficient parts such as compressors and motors to reduce the carbon footprint of an appliance during use.

More efficient operations

Improvement in operations to reduce emissions and waste.

“As we gear up to meet the challenge of climate change, it’s really encouraging to receive such an overwhelming number of entries for our new Sustainability Award. It shows once again our suppliers are passionate about joining us on the journey. Thank you to all our nominees and good luck to the finalists”, said Peter Truyens, SVP Group Purchasing.

The winners will be announced at our virtual Supplier Awards taking place on 14 October.
