The call for inspiring interior designs attracted more than 1,000 entries from 25 countries. It’s been so popular that a second competition has been added and will run through January 2010.
The original competition, launched in April 2009, invited people to submit pictures of their home interior and provide commentary about their furnishings and accessories. It’s all part of the campaign “If Ergorapido could talk.”
“Most people submitted shots of their living rooms, lounges and kitchens, with the most popular design styles being modern, art deco and contemporary,” explains Antti Laukkanen, Web Marketing Manager for Electrolux Floor Care and Small Appliances Europe.
In October, a grand-prize winner was selected. The winner, Johy from Finland (see images in sidebar), received a trip to a major European city (London, Nice or Istanbul – her choice) as well as 5,000 euros worth of furnished goods.
The jury praised the fresh, bright look of the design the colorful accents. “This is a great demonstration of convenience working together with sharp, modern design.”
New competition: The People’s Choice Award
The first Ergorapido competition was so popular that Electrolux is now extending it – or more correctly running another round with a new twist: “The People’s Choice”.
People are welcome to continue to submit photos of their home interiors to the Ergorapido website and visitors can vote for their favorite entry. Each week a new People’s Choice winner is chosen.
The weekly competitions end on January 31, 2010, at which point a grand prize winner will be announced. This grand prize winner — the person who got the most votes throughout the competition — will receive 10 Ergorapido vacuum cleaners from the new color range. In addition, the winner can select a set of handmade home accessories from the trendy TIKAU collection, which includes products that are inspired by the local aesthetics and craftsmanship in rural areas of India.
To more easily gain support (and votes!) from their friends, contest participants can easily upload their photo entries directly from the contest website to Twitter, the Ergorapido Facebook fan page, Digg and StumbleUpon.
