Electrolux En:V barbecue wins Australian International Design Award

The Electrolux En:V barbecue has won the prestigious Australian International Design Award – the first Electrolux product to do so.

Presented by Standards Australia, the award recognizes design and innovation excellence. It exists to promote and encourage high quality, well designed and environmentally-responsible products. Entries come from around the world. It assesses six design elements: innovation, functionality, visual appeal, quality and manufacturing, human factors, and environmental sustainability.

En:V was designed around the Consumer Insight of socializing, and offers benefits that set it apart from other BBQ’s. Foremost among these is its drop down hood, which allows the cook to interact with family and guests. It is full of features that consumers wanted, such as a warmer drawer, rubbish bin, pull out drawer for the gas bottle, a patented oil recovery system and split grills that are easy to clean.

The design and R&D team also made sure that En:V’s fit, feel and finish set a new standard in the category. Consumers have come to expect the same quality outdoors as they have in their kitchens and En:V matches perfectly with a modern outdoor lifestyle.

“Any design award is received with honor and pride,” says Pernilla Johansson, Design Director Electrolux Major Appliances Asia Pacific. “This award is a true mark of high quality and excellent design. A differentiated product like the En:V, with tangible consumer benefits at the heart of its design, is impossible to dismiss as just another BBQ. It is a true honor to be judged against the best products in the world in this category and win.”

In 2006 Electrolux Utzon BBQ received a Design Mark at the awards, a feat repeated by Electrolux Built-In BBQ in 2008.
