Electrolux improves its performance in Editora Abril‘s yearbook and is the most profitable Brazilian company in consumer electronics.
In the 37th edition of the Maiores & Melhores (Largest & Best) award, sponsored by the Exame magazine (Abril Group), Electrolux had the best performance in its history.
Companies operating in the Brazilian market were evaluated in categories such as sales, net income, net worth, turnover, sales margin and wealth created per employee. The ranking of the largest and best was defined from the points accumulated in each analysis. For the first time, Electrolux earned the second highest number of points (650), only behind Semp Toshiba (695).
The good news continues in the rankings segmented by business sector. In consumer electronics, the top performances of Electrolux were:
- 1st in profitability
- 2nd in growth
- 3rd place in market leadership
In the analysis to identify the 500 largest and best companies in sales, Electrolux rose from its 129th place in 2008 to the 99th position in 2009. And in comparing the 200 largest and best Groups, Electrolux won the 67th place, climbing 14 positions compared to 2008.

The yearbook awards the best companies in 18 categories, considering the most influential economic sectors in the development of the country, such as mining, transportation and retail.
At the presentation ceremony that took recently in São Paulo, chairman of the board of the Abril Group, Roberto Civita, congratulated the winning organizations, including Electrolux. “These companies have passed the test of international crisis and are now ready to move on – many of them globally,” he said.
The 2010 edition of the Largest & Best will have an English version and is the largest in the history of the publication over its 60 years, with more than 650 pages.
