At present, 63% (63) of the Group's production workforce is represented by an independent trade union or covered by collective bargaining agreements and 46 of 57 manufacturing units report that they have one or more trade unions.

Freedom of Association

Electrolux has signed an accord with union representatives on the Group’s commitment to high international labor standards. The International Framework Agreement was signed jointly by Electrolux and Swedish trade unions IF Metall, Unionen and the International Metalworkers Union (IMF) in 2010. The agreement is based on the Group’s CoC requirements and includes provisions to protect the rights of every employee to join trade unions of their choosing.

Labor relations in Thailand

In 2013, a labor conflict was ongoing at the facility in Rayong, Thailand. Representatives from both the Swedish branch of IF Metall and company headquarters visited the site to support its resolution. Since then, Electrolux has conducted an employee survey (EES), rolled out the Ethics Helpline locally, held elections for a new employee committee and conducted a Code of Conduct audit. The overall outcomes of these activities have been positive and indicate a high level of satisfaction in the workforce in Rayong.

Power to the people

Employee empowerment lies at the core of plant operations at Electrolux in Mexico. Under the banners communication and education, Juarez Mexico is a model for other Group facilities facing the challenge of operating in markets criticized for restricted freedom of association and stagnating wages.
