GREEN boom in Northern Europe

Electrolux GREEN range of vacuum cleaners resonates strongly with Northern European consumers—boosting sales and contributing to growing market share.

Once a year, key retailers, buyers, industry experts and the media flock to Berlin to attend IFA, Europe’s largest consumer electronics fair, showcasing the best consumer electronics manufacturers have on offer. This year, our GREEN range of vacuum cleaners captured the limelight.

Unique for its high-performance and design—but with better-for-the-environment features such as energy efficiency and being produced with 55-70% recycled plastics—the range captured the attention of retailers with their eye on the growing numbers of consumers seeking sustainable solutions.

Attention at IFA was the culmination of growing interest among consumers in the Electrolux and AEG GREEN ranges of vacuum cleaners over the last year. Sales have gone from strength to strength in Germany and Austria—with sales volumes doubling in a year.

In the Nordic countries, which launched its first product in the series in 2008, the range has continued to climb. GREEN models represented 13% of the total volume, and 17% of the sold value in 2015. 

Our holistic approach has helped us achieve an endorsement of two products in the range by Blauer Engel, one of the world’s most rigorous testing certification processes, considered among the most important badges of recognition for environmentally superior products in Germany.
