Case study (LA4-5): International union agreement signed

On December 15, 2010, the CEO of Electrolux Group, and the leader of the Swedish metalworkers' union, IF Metall, signed an international framework agreement on workplace conditions at Electrolux.

The agreement is based on the Electrolux Workplace Code of Conduct and demonstrates the Electrolux aim to maintain the same high standards for human rights, the environment and health and safety on a global basis within its own organization and among suppliers. It is the seventh of this kind to be voluntarily entered into by a Swedish business group, early pioneers being IKEA, Skanska, SKF, H&M, SCA and Securitas.

The agreement stipulates that Electrolux will make Workplace Code of Conduct audit findings of Group operations and suppliers available to employee representatives on an annual basis.

The International Framework Agreement exemplifies the strong relationship Electrolux shares with unions like IF Metall, Unionen, IMF and employee representatives on the Electrolux Board. In turn, unions have shown their support and high regard for the Electrolux Workplace Code of Conduct by signing this agreement that grew out of it.

Electrolux is committed to being a good employer and strives for continuous improvement, with sustainability as a core concern for all its operations. Ongoing dialog and feedback from stakeholders are important parts of achieving this.
