Sharing the wisdom

As consumers and financial stakeholders expect ever more from Electrolux, extending expectations – and best practice solutions – to strategic suppliers is a must.

A one-day set of workshops in Thailand held in 2012 was yet another step in supplying partners with information about Electrolux sustainability strategy. It also planted the seeds for solutions that help suppliers improve their own operations.

The glocal approach

Over 100 representatives from 57 Electrolux suppliers had the opportunity to attend sessions on labor, environmental management, and energy and material efficiency. Expectations were presented by government officials, Electrolux, and its customers. Best practice from Thai industry and the Group’s own Thai operations were also highlighted.

Because of its success in saving money and energy across Group operations the Green Spirit program was of special interest to attendees.

Of special interest was the Green Spirit energy-savings program, because of its success in substantially saving money and energy across the Group’s operations – an estimated 300 million SEK in annual savings.

Dealing proactively and professionally with labor practices also topped the list of attendee concerns.

Supplier representatives were able to ask questions and also provide feedback and their own ideas at a closing session called World Café.

Next stop, Brazil

Electrolux’s Responsible Sourcing Program is the touchstone for Group efforts at giving suppliers the tools they need to be more sustainable. The workshop in Thailand followed on a successful supplier workshop in China in 2011. Additional workshops to spread the company’s sustainability leadership will be held in Brazil, and again in China in 2013.
