EN26-27: Products and services

Electrolux supports developments to phase out inefficient appliances, along with better enforcement of efficiency standards. As of 2012, more stringent European Eco-Design energy-efficiency requirements mean refrigerators in energy class ‘A’ can no longer be placed on the market. Class ‘A’ dishwashers and washing machines will no longer be sold as of December 1, 2013.

During 2013 the company will continue to refine its product performance monitoring methodology to keep track of product targets, and update its Restricted Materials List (RML).

These changes in legislation and the need to modify products could potentially have a material impact on Electrolux. However, their financial implications have not been quantitatively collated on Group level.

Sales of the Group’s green ranges, the most energy- and water-efficient appliances, accounted for 10% of sold units and 18% of gross profit.

Improving product efficiency

Refrigerator and freezer efficiency in Europe improved on average by 3% per year from 2008 to 2012. See more at the graph:  Fleet average.

Global Green Range

Consumer products with the best environmental performance accounted for 10% of total units sold and 18% of gross profit.

Fleet average 2008–2012

In Europe, Electrolux realized a continuous improvement in energy efficiency in cold products and laundry in 2012. The energy index is set at 100% for 2008. Labelling systems were changed for dishwashers and laundry products in 2010. The baseline year was therefore 2011 for these products.
