By 2020 we aim to have cut our carbon footprint
in half. Join us in making a change For the Better.
We want to make a change for the better by making a positive everyday difference in people's lives and for our planet.
We know there are challenges. But by working together to find sustainable solutions that benefit everyone, we will continue to make a positive difference - every day.
A growing market for appliances means a growing need to reduce the impact each product has on the environment. That's why we not only want to continuously improve product efficiency, but also reduce the use of harmful materials in products and production, and educate consumers on more sustainable use of our products.
We want to be a leader in product efficiency in our key markets by 2020. These are our ways of getting there:
Up to 80% of the impact of an appliance occurs during its use in consumers' homes.
Greener products mean better water- and energy consumption, but not only this; some of our green products also consist of recycled materials. For example, our green vacuum cleaners consist of up to 70% recycled plastics. Green ranges are part of every business sector within Electrolux.
The impact we have on the world starts with us: what we do and how we treat others. Therefore, we need to set the best example by providing the best health and safety at work and applying the same high ethics standards across all our global operations. And run clean and efficient operations globally to reduce our own environmental footprint.
We want to improve energy efficiency in our own plants and sites by 20% by 2020. We want to be the leader in health and safety in our industry. And continue to build an ethical, trusted company where everyone feel confident that their rights are respected. These are the steps we are taking:
"Is this for the better?" - our mindset behind everything we do.
Electrolux' global Ethics Program is encompassing both ethics training and a whistleblowing system - the Electrolux Ethics Helpline. Through the Ethics Helpline, people can report suspected misconduct anonymously and in local languages.
Since January 2016, thirteen Electrolux manufacturing sites in Europe use only electricity from renewable sources. Overall, this will reduce CO2 emissions by 75,000 tons per year, which accounts for 60% of the total CO2 emissions of the Electrolux factories in Europe.
As a multinational business, we touch the lives of millions of people – our customers, suppliers and local communities. We want our influence to be a positive one, working in partnership to meet local needs and drive improvement wherever we operate. We work towards making efficient appliances accessible to more and more people. And we are doing all that while upholding and enforcing high standards for environment, labor and human rights across the value chain.
We want to achieve faster technology transfer to emerging markets, ensure that all suppliers live up to the same expectations that we set for ourselves and support the transition to more sustainable practices wherever possible. These are the steps we are taking:
Our 58 000 employees work every day to contribute for the better.
Electrolux is working with United for Efficiency (U4E) a public-private partnership led by the United Nations Environment Program. Aimed at stimulating the market for efficient electrical products, U4E helps governments in emerging markets develop and implement national and regional strategies for improved energy efficiency.
New technologies, sustainability concerns and innovative minds are transforming our clothes. In the Next Black documentary film, you meet the designers, innovators and leaders that are shaping the future of what we will be wearing. This is not a film about what's new, it's about what's next.
