EN3-7: Energy

Energy consumption and efficiency improvements

In total, 90% (89) of the Group’s energy consumption derives from production facilities, the remaining 10% (11) comes from office and warehouses. Manufacturing comprises a mix of assembly and other processes such as metalworking, molding of plastics, painting and enameling.

Energy saved due to conservation

The Group has a strong track record in energy reduction. The 2012 one-year 3.5% energy-reduction target has been integrated into a new 2015 target to reduce energy by 15% compared to 2011 production volumes. The Group realized a 6% relative improvement in 2012, indicating a significant rise in production efficiency. In absolute terms, the result was a marginal increase, due to a rise in production volumes.

This data derives from 58 factories, 32 warehouses and 48 offices compared to 52 factories, 17 warehouses and 25 offices in 2005.

Note: Energy reduction performance was calculated according to World Resources Institute (WRI). Electricity emissions factors were updated according to the 2012 data set as published by the International Energy Agency (IEA).

Historical data have been revised for indicators EN3, EN4, EN5 along with EN16, EN18 and EN19.

Energy savings target 2015

In line with the 2015, 15% energy reduction target, Electrolux realized a 6% relative improvement in use, excluding newly-acquired operations.
