iF and red dot design awards for Neue Kollektion

The AEG Neue Kollektion took home a total of 19 awards at the iF Design Awards 2011 and the 2011 red dot design awards.

In the 2011 iF Design Awards, 2,756 products from 43 countries competed. Six appliances from the AEG Neue Kollektion were awarded in the Household/Living category – the Competence MaxiKlasse built-in/under product range 60 H-design;  the Compact product range 38 H-design;  the MaxiSense Bridge hobs product range; and the CrystalLine hobs product range.

The iF product design award has been running since 1953 in Germany. It is world-renowned for its long history in the design industry.

Meanwhile, in the red dot design award – one of the largest competitions in the design industry – over 4,400 entries from 60 countries competed in this year’s competition.

Thirteen built-in ovens, hobs, dishwashers, refrigerators and cooker hoods from the AEG Neue Kollektion were awarded the red dot in the Household/Living category. These included the Competence MaxiKlasse and Compact built-in oven ranges, the MaxiSense Bridge and CrystalLine hob ranges, the Favorit dishwasher and the street hood design. The AEG Compact Built-In 45-cm H-Design oven got the “best of the best” award for the highest design quality.

The red dot awards are judged by an independent jury of internationally respected design experts. The product selection criteria are adapted each year to the latest findings in formal, technical, manufacturing, societal, industrial and ecological requirements. The criteria includes, among others, the degree of innovation, functionality, ergonomics, formal quality, symbolic and emotional content as well as ecological compatibility and durability.

Where to find the winners

The awarded AEG products will be on display alongside the other red dot winners at the Red Dot Design Museum in Essen until July next year. If you don’t make it to Essen, you can also see the awarded products online on the red dot website and in the red dot design yearbook 2011.
