Electrolux shines as a CSR star in the Middle East

Electrolux has been chosen out of 15,000 companies as ‘Best CSR Company 2018’ in recognition of its sustainability efforts in the Middle East.

The award – given by the DMCC, Dubai’s Free Zone authority which has over 15,000 members – on April 30, 2018, recognizes the outstanding corporate social responsibility (CSR) contribution that Electrolux has made through its #forthebetter program in the Middle East.

At the forefront of the activity has been the regeneration of the region’s indigenous Ghaf tree population, whose numbers have dramatically dropped in recent years. So far Electrolux has planted over 15,000 Ghaf trees with this number expected to reach 20,000 by the end of 2018.

Electrolux has extended the Ghaf tree initiative to local schools, connecting with thousands of school children during the past two years and engaging our future generation (in a fun way) about the importance of sustainability. At the school events, Electrolux employees and partners discuss sustainability issues with the children who then plant a Ghaf tree, hanging their dedication card on a special dedication tree.

In addition, Electrolux has been active in providing thousands of meals to low-paid workers at worksites in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Electrolux office in Dubai has become ‘plastic-free’.
