Electrolux named Sector Leader by Sustainable Asset Management

Electrolux has been named Sector Leader, Sector Mover and SAM Gold Class winner in Durable Household Products in the yearly prestigious sustainability assessment by Sustainable Asset Management (SAM).

Every year, the 2,500 largest companies in the world are invited to participate in the corporate sustainability assessment made by SAM, an independent asset management company headquartered in Zurich. Based on the assessments, the top-scoring 15% of the companies in each of the assessed 58 sectors qualify for inclusion in the Sustainability Yearbook. The Sustainability Yearbook is one of the world’s most insightful publications on corporate sustainability and the related challenges and opportunities for companies. SAM also makes the assessment for Dow Jones Sustainability Index.

In the Sustainability Yearbook 2012, Electrolux receives three recognitions: as SAM Sector Leader, SAM Sector Mover and SAM Gold Class in Durable Household Products. This is the fifth consecutive year that Electrolux is named Sector Leader.

The SAM ranking is based on how companies cope with sustainability trends and challenges that are likely to have an impact on shareholder value creation. The Sustainability Yearbook identifies companies that are better than their peers in seizing opportunities and managing risks associated with global and industry-specific trends and challenges and which therefore represent attractive investment opportunities.

“Good business leadership is not only about meeting today’s needs, but also about preparing for tomorrow’s challenges and opportunities. Sustainability is a fundamental part of the Electrolux strategy, and being Sector Leader proves that we make reality of this strategy. We put a lot of effort into continuously improving the eco-efficiency of our own operations, but the main contribution of Electrolux to a sustainable society is to be a leader in developing solutions that help our customers and consumers to live more efficiently and sustainable,” says Henrik Sundström, Head of Sustainability at Electrolux.
