Codes and policies

A sustainable approach starts at home: with safe workplaces, mutual respect and common values. Four central company codes lay the groundwork of how Electrolux is to conduct its business sustainably and responsibly.

The Electrolux Corporate Reporting Code of Ethics formalizes the principles by which the Group conducts its relations with employees, shareholders, business partners and other stakeholders.

Our Workplace Code of Conduct and Policy on Countering Corruption and Bribery fall under the umbrella of the Code of Ethics and are more operational in nature. The Environmental Policy was first launched in 1993. They are all based on fundamental conventions of the International Labour Organization and the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises.

Ownership and monitoring

Electrolux is streamlining group-wide policies to ensure strong, coherent messages across the Group. Policies are approved by Group Management and are mandatory, monitored and enforced. They are communicated to provide understanding for employees. Implementation is achieved through clear lines of accountability.

Awareness of, and compliance with, the Workplace Code of Conduct are assessed through the ALFA (Awareness-Learning-Feedback-Assessment) system and on-site audits. Internal and external audits also monitor implementation of the Environmental Policy.

A key priority is to ensure group-wide policies are communicated across the organization. Particular focus is placed on the Code of Conduct and the Code of Ethics, which formalizes the principles for our relations with employees, shareholders, business partners and other stakeholders. Ensuring that everyone at Electrolux upholds high ethical and environmental values is vital in building the trust on which our brand success depends.

Employee policies

Human resource-related policies such as the Grandparent Principle and the Recruitment Policy are designed to ensure fair and transparent hiring practices. The Compensation Policy defines a consistent approach to remuneration. The purpose of the policy “Appointment of Senior Managers” is to ensure that Electrolux appoints the right people to achieve strategic objectives in line with Group policies. Training of the policy has been conducted throughout the global Human Resource community. Compliance is followed up annually. Non-compliant units are requested to have short and long-term action plans in place.

Industry-wide codes

The European appliance industry association, CECED, also has a Code of Conduct that aims to promote fair and sustainable standards for working conditions and environmental performance among its company members. Electrolux played an active role in its development and fully endorses the Code.
